Opaque cover to limit light

Unlike a mesh cover, this opaque cover significantly limits light penetration into the water.

This design helps to:

• Keep the water cleaner during the closure
• Simplify spring cleaning
• Protect the water surface during winter

However, an opaque cover does not replace a complete pool closure, proper water balance, or the use of suitable winterizing products.

The Yard Guard Deluxe cover is made of tear-resistant woven polyethylene treated to better withstand exposure to UV rays.

4-ft nominal overlap

The overhang makes installation easier, but should not be interpreted as universal compatibility with all pool shapes or deck configurations.

Nylon loops, cable, and winch included

Nylon strap loops are integrated around the perimeter of the cover to guide the cable around the pool.

The system includes:

• Nylon loops
• A retaining cable
• A tightening winch
• Sewn reinforcements around the perimeter

The cable passes through the loops before being tightened with the winch. This system helps keep the cover around the wall during the winter.

The cable must be tight enough to hold the cover in place without applying excessive tension that could damage the cover, seams, or pool.

Recommended installation

To install the cover:

1. Complete the pool closing and winterization.
2. Remove accessories that are incompatible with the cover.
3. Clean the perimeter to remove sharp objects.
4. Unfold the cover on a clean surface.
5. Center the cover over the pool.
6. Distribute the overhang evenly around the wall.
7. Pass the cable through the nylon loops.
8. Install the winch and tighten gradually.
9. Make sure the cover does not rub against a sharp edge.
10. Inspect the installation regularly throughout the winter.

Two people are recommended for handling large sizes and oval covers.

Winter maintenance

Even after installation, periodic inspection is still necessary.

During the season:

• Check the cable tension
• Inspect the buckles and seams
• Remove leaves and debris
• Monitor water accumulation
• Follow the manufacturer’s recommendations regarding snow and ice
• Promptly correct any movement of the cover
• Avoid all contact with sharp objects
• Do not use any tool that could puncture the polyethylene

An air pillow, cover pump, or other winterizing accessories may be recommended depending on the pool and closing method. They are sold separately.

This cover is not a safety cover

The Yard Guard Deluxe cover is a winter cover, not an approved safety cover.

Therefore:

• Never walk on the cover
• Never allow a child or animal to approach it unsupervised
• Do not place any heavy objects on its surface
• Do not use it as a fall-arrest device
• Keep pool access secure during the winter

An opaque winter cover does not replace a fence, barrier, or safety system that complies with regulations.
