"Today, nearly 900 million people around the world do not have access to a safe drinking water source within one kilometer of their homes, and 2.5 billion live without adequate sanitation facilities. In developing countries, one in four people still does not have access to safe water."

Women and young girls are particularly affected, spending hours each day searching for water in polluted streams and ponds, exposing their families to waterborne diseases and compromising their future, including their educational opportunities.

Primary schools in developing countries are also suffering, with more than half of them lacking access to clean water and sanitation. Furthermore, the absence of menstrual hygiene supplies, soap, and clean water deprives adolescent girls of the opportunity to continue their studies in dignified conditions.

Faced with this reality, we decided to "Share Water" and provide our support. Every purchase at Backyard'brands contributes to access to clean water and dignified sanitary conditions. Access to clean water is essential for the sustainable development of any community. Clean water not only meets a fundamental need; it restores hope and unleashes human potential.

In the rural areas of Kenya and Uganda, we collaborate with school communities to collect and store rainwater, dig wells, and implement appropriate sanitation and hygiene practices. We also support schools in creating income-generating activities, such as soap making, sold to communities to fund school supplies.

Thanks to the support of consumers of pools and spas, our network of professional distributors, as well as numerous local Rotary Clubs and Rotary International, we can select, build, and monitor sustainable projects, ensuring a long-term impact.

At Water Care and with our network of distributors, we know that it is not enough to simply provide drinking water. Our WASH projects (water, sanitation, and hygiene) aim to improve the quality of life of communities by addressing all the issues related to water and sanitation.

We are focusing on several key initiatives to create a lasting impact, such as:

• Construction of toilets and sanitation systems to ensure basic sanitary conditions
• Implementation of rainwater harvesting for sustainable water management
• Drilling wells and boreholes to ensure a reliable water supply
• Strengthening local capacities and behavior change for more effective water management
• Support for adolescent girls, with resources and education on menstrual hygiene
• Collaboration with local NGOs in Kenya, Uganda, and Costa Rica to promote self-sufficiency
• Creation of income-generating activities for schools, in order to support their financial self-sufficiency.
