Proper maintenance of an Endless Pools swim spa does not consist of randomly adding products as soon as the water loses some of its sparkle. The real method is based on four elements: the exact basin volume, constant circulation, clean filters, and water chemistry adjusted according to reliable test results. With a Mineraluxe routine adapted to a swim spa, it becomes much easier to maintain clear, comfortable, and safe water while protecting the heater, pumps, plumbing, and surfaces.

A swim spa contains much more water than a traditional spa, but it can also operate at a higher temperature than a swimming pool. Dosage therefore varies greatly from one model to another. An amount intended for 1,300 liters is not suitable for a 9,000-liter basin. Temperature, number of bathers, session duration, body oils, sunscreen products, and whether the basin is indoors or outdoors also affect disinfectant demand.

At approximately 80 to 85 °F, when usage is primarily similar to that of a swimming pool, Piscine Hippocampe's Mineraluxe protocol generally targets free chlorine of 1 to 3 ppm. At 90 °F and above, when usage is more like that of a spa, the target generally increases to 3 to 5 ppm. These values should always be confirmed based on the model, actual temperature, installed equipment, and the instructions on the labels.

A new basin may contain dust, oils, manufacturing residue, adhesives, and dirt in the plumbing. Starting regular maintenance without flushing out these contaminants can accelerate chlorine consumption and make water stabilization more difficult.

Mineraluxe products work together. Oxygen Swim Spa oxidizes waste left by swimmers and helps clarify the water. Cube Swim Spa provides mineral treatment that helps keep surfaces clean and limit deposits. Granular chlorine remains the primary sanitizer: Cube and Oxygen do not replace it.

These quantities are starting points, not automatic doses. If the chlorine reading is already at the high end of the target range, do not add more simply because the scheduled day has arrived. Conversely, a long session, multiple swimmers, or water above 90 °F may require more frequent monitoring.

A test strip is perfect for quickly determining whether you need to add chlorine or adjust the pH. However, it does not replace a complete analysis. Some imbalances develop slowly and remain invisible until cloudy water, deposits, odors, foam, or abnormal sanitizer consumption appears.

At Piscine Hippocampe, an in-store analysis allows you to check the free and total chlorine, pH, total alkalinity, calcium hardness, stabilizer, dissolved solids, and, when the situation warrants it, other indicators such as phosphates. The goal is to balance all the data in the right order rather than correct a single isolated figure.

Even perfect water chemistry cannot compensate for clogged cartridges. Filters trap particles, oils, dust, and some of the waste loosened by oxidation. The hotter or more heavily used the water is, the faster they become loaded.

The Mineraluxe protocol provided to Piscine Hippocampe generally suggests replacing the water approximately every 4 to 5 months. This interval may be shortened when the pool is very warm, heavily used, or difficult to stabilize. Conversely, water testing can sometimes help avoid draining prematurely. Dissolved solids naturally increase with each addition of product and each swim; Endless Pools recommends a partial water replacement when TDS exceeds 2,500 ppm.

In Quebec, planning is essential. Avoid draining a swim spa during a period of extreme cold. A practical strategy is to replace the water before winter, and then during a thaw if testing indicates that it is necessary. Before a maintenance drain, Mineraluxe Cleanse & Drain can be used to flush oils, fats, waxes, and biofilm from the plumbing, following the label and the procedure appropriate for the pool.

Cloudy water can result from insufficient chlorine, a dirty filter, an excess of organic matter, pH outside the target range, or water that has become overloaded. Therefore, diagnose the cause before adding multiple products.
