Water-i.d. PT500 water tester for pools and spas

$24.99 $34.99

The Water-i.d. PT500 is a tablet-based colorimetric tester designed to quickly check the main water parameters in a pool or spa.

It measures free chlorine or bromine, pH and total alkalinity using reagents that produce a color change in the water sample. You then simply compare the resulting color with the scale integrated into the tester.

Simple, compact and reusable, the PT500 is an excellent solution for carrying out regular analyses at home.

Four essential parameters

The Water-i.d. PT500 allows you to monitor the key elements needed to maintain balanced water:

  • Free chlorine
  • Bromine
  • pH
  • Total alkalinity

Chlorine and bromine use the same cell and the same DPD No 1 tablet. The result must be read on the scale corresponding to the disinfectant used.

Simple colorimetric analysis

The PT500 requires no battery, connection or electronic calibration.

To perform an analysis:

  1. Rinse the cells with the water to be tested.
  2. Fill the cells to the indicated level.
  3. Add the tablet corresponding to the parameter.
  4. Close the tester.
  5. Shake until the tablet dissolves.
  6. Compare the resulting color with the integrated scale.

For a more reliable reading, compare the colors under natural light, without tinted glasses, with the tester placed against a light-colored background.

Included reagents

The set includes three types of tablets:

  • Phenol Red for measuring pH
  • DPD No 1 for measuring free chlorine or bromine
  • Alkatest for measuring total alkalinity

The included reagents allow up to 20 analyses of each parameter, when used according to the instructions.

Measurement ranges

Parameter Range
pH 6.8 to 8.2
Free chlorine 0.1 to 6 mg/L
Bromine 0.22 to 13.2 mg/L
Total alkalinity 0 to 250 mg/L as CaCO₃

Each parameter has an eight-value scale to facilitate visual comparison.

Free, total and combined chlorine

The included DPD No 1 tablets are used to measure free chlorine.

To measure total chlorine, use one DPD No 1 tablet followed by one DPD No 3 tablet, sold separately. Combined chlorine is then calculated as follows:

Combined chlorine = total chlorine − free chlorine
