Protect your gazebo during the cold season with this Corriveau winter cover made of white polyethylene with a density of 185 g/m². Designed to enclose the structure and roof, it helps limit exposure to snow, ice, moisture, leaves, and dirt.
Its integrated door, ventilation openings, hook-and-loop fasteners, and anchor grommets facilitate installation and access to the gazebo during winter.
Winter protection for gazebo
The cover temporarily transforms the gazebo into an enclosed space to protect the structure and the items stored inside.
It helps reduce exposure to:
- Snow and ice accumulation
- Rain and moisture
- Fallen leaves
- Dust and dirt
- Wind-blown debris
- Temperature variations
It also facilitates cleaning and putting the gazebo back into service in the spring.
Designed for Corriveau gazebos
This winter cover is designed as a universal solution for several Corriveau gazebo models.
Compatibility depends mainly on:
- The nominal dimensions of the gazebo
- The shape of the structure
- The roof configuration
- The position of the posts
- The selected cover size
Before ordering, check the model name, its dimensions, and the recommendations provided in its installation manual.
The fabric can be used on certain gazebos from another brand, but its fit may be less precise. Additional side straps may then be required.
185 g/m² white polyethylene
The cover is made of white polyethylene with a density of 185 g/m². This material is designed to remain flexible at low temperatures and reduce the risk of cracking caused by the cold.
Its main advantages include:
- A design suited to winter use
- Good moisture resistance
- A surface that facilitates snow runoff
- A flexible, easy-to-handle material
- A white color that enhances interior brightness
- A density of 185 g/m²
Although the fabric facilitates snow sliding off, any accumulation must be removed regularly.
Integrated access door
An integrated door provides access to the inside of the gazebo without completely removing the cover.
It facilitates, in particular:
- Inspecting the structure
- Checking the anchors
- Snow removal
- Accessing stored furniture
- Ventilating the space as needed
The door must be completely closed after each use to prevent it from being lifted or damaged by the wind.
Ventilation openings
Built-in ventilation holes promote air circulation inside the cover.
They help:
- Reduce wind pressure
- Limit condensation
- Reduce moisture buildup
- Promote better air circulation
Openings reduce these effects without eliminating them completely. Periodically inspect the inside of the gazebo during the winter.
Fastening system
The cover includes inner fasteners and Velcro-type hook-and-loop strips for securing it to the posts.
Grommets installed at the bottom of the cover are used to anchor it to the ground.
The type of anchor required depends on the surface:
- Concrete slab
- Wooden deck
- Paver
- Compacted soil
- Other suitable foundation
Anchors are not included.
Recommended additional straps
To reduce wind exposure, Corriveau recommends adding ratchet straps with hooks around the gazebo in two places:
- One strap around the upper part of the posts
- One strap around the lower part of the posts
These straps help keep the cover close to the structure and reduce movement that could damage it prematurely. They are sold separately.
It is also important to leave no large opening at the bottom of the cover to limit the parachute effect caused by the wind.
Available sizes
The Corriveau winter cover is available at Piscine Hippocampe in the following sizes:
- 10 ft x 10 ft
- 10 ft x 12 ft
- 10 ft x 14 ft
- 12 ft x 16 ft
Select the size that exactly matches the dimensions of your gazebo. A cover that is too large or too small may be difficult to secure properly.
Recommended installation
Installation requires at least two people and two stepladders. A pole approximately 6 ft long can also make handling easier.
General steps:
- Clean the structure and remove debris from the roof.
- Inspect the gazebo and tighten the fasteners.
- Unfold the cover on a clean surface.
- Locate the door and choose its orientation.
- Open the door to make installation easier.
- Place the cover seams facing inward.
- Have two people lift the cover over the roof.
- Secure the inner fasteners to the tops of the posts.
- Position the hook-and-loop fasteners in the corners.
- Secure the cover to the ground using the grommets.
- Add the recommended ratchet straps.
- Check that no significant opening remains at the bottom of the cover.
Never attempt to install the cover during high winds.
Snow removal required
Installing a winter cover does not remove the responsibility to clear snow from the gazebo roof.
During winter:
- Remove snow regularly
- Never allow significant accumulation
- Use a soft broom to avoid damaging the cover
- Avoid metal or sharp tools
- Check the structure after every storm
- Install a winter support pole when recommended
The winter support pole helps support the centre of the roof but does not replace snow removal.
Cleaning and storage
To clean the cover:
- Use lukewarm water
- Apply mild soap
- Clean with a soft brush
- Rinse thoroughly
- Avoid using a pressure washer
Before storing the cover in the spring, let it dry completely. Folding the cover while it is still damp can promote mould growth.
