Currently, 900 million people around the world do not have access to a safe water source within one kilometer of their home; 2.5 billion people do not have access to adequate sanitation and, in developing countries, one in four people do not. Women and girls, in particular, must walk miles 7 days a week to fetch water from streams and ponds, where they are exposed to water-borne diseases that make them and themselves sick. their families, and prevent them from benefiting from a fair education.

Diseases caused by drinking dirty water and the time wasted collecting it are robbing entire communities of their future.

Hope is suspended in more than half of primary schools in developing countries that do not have access to water and sanitation.

Hope is put on hold for adolescent girls when they lack training and supplies on menstrual hygiene, intimacy, soap and sufficient safe water. This is one of the main reasons why girls do not benefit from the educational opportunities that should be available to them.

Access to drinking water is essential to the development of any community. Clean water restores hope and unlocks potential.

In rural Kenya and Uganda, we help school communities collect and store rainwater, dig wells, and maintain proper sanitation and hygiene practices. We help schools develop sustainable income-generating activities, such as soap making, which they sell to their communities to help finance school supplies.
